Friends
of Nocton School
- FONS
<>FONS was
established as a fundraising committee to help support the school
financially. The local authority provide
the school with a set sum of money dependant upon pupil numbers - at
present
there are 55 children on the register, so government funding is very
limited.
The school therefore unfortunately relies heavily on fundraising
activities to
help provide some essential items such as sports and play equipment to
help
further the children’s education and meet national curriculum
requirements.
FONS are planning
the following fundraising activities:
<>TEAM QUIZ NIGHT: Friday
11th February 2005 commencing at 8.00pm at the Londesborough Arms
Public House in
Metheringham. £2.00 per person with a
maximum of 4 people per team, payable on the night.
TEA TOWELS: The children have produced a tea towel that will be
available in time for mother’s day, each child has drawn a self
portrait and
Year 6 have drawn the staff. Price £3.00
per tea towel available from the School or Post Office from Wednesday 23rd February 2005.
BAGS 2 SCHOOL SCHEME: We are collecting old clothes,
shoes, bags, belts,
bedding, curtains and soft toys in ANY condition. The
company will be collecting these on 26th
April and will pay the school 20p per kilo.
These items are then distributed to underprivileged countries.
The
school is unable to store the bags before this date although
arrangements can
be made with Mr Dowler in exceptional circumstances.
Any villagers who wish to support this scheme
who are unable to bring items to the school can arrange for a FONS
representative to collect from your house on that morning, please
contact
school on 320234.
COOKERY BOOK: We are in the process of producing a cookery book
which will be illustrated by the children.
FONS are collecting recipes and anyone with any tantalising
favourites
please send them in to school.
<>
The children of
the school invite you to come and cheer them on in the forthcoming
sporting
activities:
- February 10th
2005 at 3.00pm boys and girls football matches
against Dunston School.
- March 15th
2005
District cross country commencing at 4.00pm.
<>
FONS would like to
take this opportunity to thank everyone in the village that have
supported the
school fundraisers in the past and your continued support is much
needed to
make our future activities a success.
