Thought for the day:
"Fathers, do not goad your children
to
resentment, but give them the instruction, and the correction, which
belong to a Christian upbringing."
Ephesians 6 verse 4
Did you hear about the police officer
who saw a truck with an aluminium
trailer, moving erratically in the slow lane? Every few miles the
driver would stop, jump out, run back to the trailer and beat the side
of it with a big stick. Then he'd jump back in the cab and speed off.
Finally, the police officer pulled him over, and asked him what was
going on. "Well, officer," the man replied, " this is a one-ton truck and I'm trying to
haul two tons of canaries -
so I have to keep half of them in the air at all times!"
You may smile, but many of us spend our lives trying to keep too many
things in the air, and the first place it shows up is at home. Right?
Chances are, you'll live in several houses, have several cars and work
at several jobs during your lifetime - but you'll only have one opportunity to be the parent
your child needs. Don't fail them! Don't sacrifice your family on the
altar of your career, or for some other materialistic goal!
Recently, a teenager wrote, "Before I got into drugs, my dad hardly
noticed I was around. But now that I'm in trouble, he's got all sorts
of time for me. He even tells me he loves me. The trouble is that I
don't know if he's doing it because he really cares or if it's because
I've become his biggest problem."
Your children spell love T-I-M-E! Be
there when they need you and one day they'll be there when you
need them.
