NOCTON HARVEST THANKSGIVING  will be held on Sunday 24th September at 4.00 pm.  This will be followed as usual by Harvest Supper in the Village Hall.  (Tickets – Adults £5 and Children £3 from Ann Kennedy).  All are welcome.

 
ORGAN RECITAL will be held on Saturday 21st October at 7.30 pm.  Mike Boltz will play a medley of “different” music and is practicing hard.  He has tickets available at 01522 537974.

 
ANNUAL CYCLE FUNDRAISER is on Saturday 9th September.  Forms are available from Liz Murray.

 
A successful Coffee Morning was held on Wed 12th July and it was agreed to form “The Get to know you” Coffee Club with the intention of meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of each month from 10am-12 noon in the Village Hall.  The next Coffee morning will be on 9th August with Gill and David Rumbelow making coffee and Philip Franklin showing their ‘Scrapbooks’ – decorated photos.

 
Sue Morris is organizing some form of ‘Get Fit – Keep Fit’ for September – the instructor suggests we have a Pilates group for all ages and ability as well as a ‘Health and Fat-bum’ session.  Please phone Sue on 01526 321455 if you are interested in either or both of these sessions.

 
Nocton WI won the Lincolnshire North WI Rose Bowl at the Lincolnshire Show.  We had the greatest number of points from all the entries that we submitted and Branston came second.

 
Branston and District U3A – The University of the Third Age is for anyone over 50 and not in full time employment.  We hold a general monthly meeting in Branston Village Hall on the 4th Tuesday of the month, at 1.30 pm for a cup of tea prior to the meeting  at 2.00pm.  We now have over twenty ‘interest’ groups, which meet, regularly at various local venues.  These range from leisure eg musical appreciation, gardening, play reading, photography and painting to the more serious eg history, archaeology, latin - to the physical eg walking, and a number of these have room for new members.  At our July meeting we were entertained by Judy Theobald, who is a poet.  Judy has been a journalist for 22 years, 7 of them as Editor of Lincolnshire Life.Our next meeting will be on Tuesday 22nd August when we will hear the history of Doddington Hall.  New members and visitors are always welcome.

 
From Nocton Parish Council, July meeting, P.C. Annell and P Sgt Hull explained their duties and that of the new police support officer.  Anti-social behavior including young people with motorcycles, drinking, litter and rowdiness are worrying.  Anglian Water are investigating quality problems with drinking water.
