Nocton – The Last Years of an Estate Village – 18th October

The Village Hall was full for the launch of Sheila Redshaw and Sue Morris’ Volume 1.

Congratulations to them – it makes interesting reading and is a most useful reference book.

PCC Meeting

At the meeting held on 10th October, Chris Hewitt was elected on to the PCC. The Hewitt family are regular Churchgoers and Chris is Head of Maths at the Sir William Robertson High School, Welbourn.

He has three daughters Vicki 18, Lizzi 17, Georgi 15. Paula works for the Special Education Needs Department of the County Council. Paula’s dad was Christened at Nocton & attended the Primary school in the 30’s

REMEMBRANCE SUNDAY

This is being held at Nocton at 9.30am on Sunday 11th November and Revd Terry Stokes will officiate.

Remembrance is a fitting time to inform the village that under the guidance of Cliff Baxendale, we are planning a Second World War Memorial to the five Nocton men who were killed and as yet, have no memorial. Details of these men are in the new Nocton book.

Carol Singing

Monday 17th December – meet at the Village Hall car park at 6pm, in aid of the Church Repair Fund and MIND, Mulled wine and mince pies afterwards – further details from Chris Hewitt on 01526 320645.
