On 23rd July, Nocton C.C. held its annual village friendly match with the teams comprised of junior, regulars and irregulars. Perfect weather with a warm evening saw the President’s XI captained by Alistair Grant beat the Chairman’s XI captained by David Glew in a closely fought contest,

ORGAN RECITAL will be held on Saturday 21st October at 7.30 pm. Mike Boltz will play a medley of “different” music and is practicing hard. He has tickets available at 01522 537974.

Sponsored Cycle Ride in aid of the Old Churches Trust and Nocton Church. This annual event takes place on Saturday 9th September. Sponsor forms available from Liz Murray on 01526 323357. Pump up your tyres or alternatively please give an hour to man the church.

Dunston Twinning Association DUCK RACE will be held on the Green at Dunston from 2 pm on Saturday 9 September. Duck races, prizes, games, bouncy castle, stalls, refreshments etc. Looking forward to seeing you all there.

Nocton Village Hall Management Committee is arranging a BARN DANCE for Saturday 7th October, 7.30-11.30pm in the Village Hall with dancing to the Higgledy Piggledy Band and a Ploughmans Supper is included in the price of £6. Tickets available from Peter Askew on 01526 322074 and Sue Morris on 01526 321455 or any committee member – limited number of tickets.

The next COFFEE MORNING is on Wednesday 13th September 10am-12 noon in the Village Hall.

Fitness/Pilates – Enrolment Day is Tuesday 5 September 11.15am and classes will commence the following Tuesday from 11.15am-12.15pm. The class is for all ages and abilities, Jacky Brand is the tutor and her aim is ‘Pushing fitness back into the community’.

Nocton Art Group meets in the Village Hall each Tuesday from 1pm. The cost is £2.50 a session and it restarts on Tuesday 19th September. Why don’t you come along?

Mosaic Meeting – anyone over the ages of 14 is welcome to come and have a go. Our next sessions are 16th and 30th September and 14th and 28th October from 9.30am and we finish at lunchtime.

NEWSPAPER ROUND

Denise and Ken Cook, the proprietors of the Metheringham newsagent are interested in providing a paper round in Nocton if they can find enough persons over 13 years of age prepared to undertake delivery. If interested in doing this service, please contact 01526 320371.
